A few quick questions first, then you pick your time.I take a maximum of four of these calls a week.

How the thirty minutes go

  1. Minutes 0 to 10

    Where things stand

Your situation, your goals, and the question that brought you here.

  2. Minutes 10 to 25

    What matters most

We work through it together: taxes, accounts, timing, and trade-offs.

  3. Minutes 25 to 30

    Your next move

One clear step you can act on this week.

  4. Minute 30

    We wrap up

You leave with your plan. Nothing to decide, nothing to sign.

What people bring to these calls

You don't need to have it figured out, and you don't need a certain amount of money. Most people come with one question and leave with a clearer picture of everything around it.

  • A decision you keep putting off, like paying down the mortgage versus investing, or buying versus renting.
  • RRSP, TFSA, FHSA, RESP: which account should come first, and how much should go where.
  • Money that arrived all at once, from an inheritance, a bonus, a property, or the sale of a business.
  • A business you own, and questions about how to pay yourself or what the company should hold.
  • Insurance you're not sure you need, or aren't sure is the right kind.
  • A big change coming up: a new baby, a new job, a move, a marriage, or retirement on the horizon.
  • A plan or portfolio someone else built, and a second opinion on whether it still fits.
  • No specific question, just a feeling you could be doing better with what you have.

The one thing this call isn't for is stock tips.

Why this call is free

Most financial mistakes aren't made out of carelessness. They happen because nobody looked at the whole picture before a decision got made. Thirty minutes at the right moment can prevent a lot of that.

So on the call, I do what I do with my clients. I look at your situation and tell you what I'd focus on first. I won't hold back the useful part for a paid meeting.

At the end I'll take a minute to tell you how I work with clients, in case it's useful to know. Then you decide what you want to do with it. There's nothing to sign and no follow-up call to dodge.

The one thing I ask is that you come prepared, because thirty minutes goes quickly. Once you book, I'll send you a short video on what to bring.

How booking works

  1. Answer a few questions

About three minutes, so I can prepare for your situation before we talk.

  2. Watch the prep video

You'll get an email with a short video on what to bring and what to expect.

  3. Pick your time

The same email includes a private booking link. Choose any open time. The link works once.

  4. Meet for thirty minutes

Over Zoom or Google Meet, whichever you prefer.

If a call isn't the right fit for where you are right now, I'll tell you that directly and point you to something more useful instead.

Questions people ask first

Is it actually free?
Yes. No cost, no card. I’ll spend a minute at the end on how I work with clients, and you’re welcome to leave it there.
Do I need a certain amount of money to book?
No. There's no minimum. The call is about your decisions, not the size of your accounts.
I'm not sure what to ask. Should I still book?
Yes. The questions before you book help find the right place to start, and "am I on track?" is a perfectly good question to bring.
What should I prepare?
You'll get a short video once you book. The short version: a rough picture of your accounts, income, and anything big coming up, plus the questions that are on your mind.
Do you work with people outside Canada?
I specialize in Canadian planning and work with people in every province and territory, all by Zoom or Google Meet. I’m not the right fit for Americans or anyone living outside Canada, since the tax and account rules are different.
What if I want help after the call?
I’ll briefly explain what working together looks like near the end of the call. If it’s not for you, that’s a perfectly good answer and the plan you leave with is still yours.
What happens to the information I share?
Everything you share is held in complete confidence under our privacy policy. The questions people ask sometimes become content or case studies, but always under a pseudonym and never with identifying details.

I take four of these calls a week.

Times are first come, first served. If this week is full, you'll see the next open times when you book.
